ABOUT me:
Mr Krishnan is a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon based in the North East of England who exclusively performs hip and knee surgery with particular interest in joint replacement. The ethos of his practice is to provide high quality, patient-centered care, tailoring treatment to individual patients based on best available evidence. This may include surgical and non-surgical treatment.
Mr Krishnan completed his basic surgical training in East Anglia and the Midlands, before moving to the North East for his specialist training in Orthopaedics and Trauma. He completed two six month fellowships working with eminent surgeons in distinguished centres of excellence. The first fellowship was in Auckland, New Zealand pioneering in hip & knee replacement alongside revision hip & knee replacement. The second fellowship was in Bristol, UK to further cement his joint replacement experience and specialising in pelvic reconstructive surgery.
In 2010, he was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Sunderland Royal Hospital. He mainly performs hip & knee replacement surgery. His other interests include revision hip & knee replacement surgery as well as management of pelvis & complex lower limb fractures. After establishing his NHS practice in Sunderland Royal Hospital, he started his private practice in Spire Washington Hospital in 2013 performing hip & knee surgery.
His 10 year results published by the National Joint Registry, UK (NJR 2021, NJR 2022 and NJR 2023) shows that he is amongst the best performing surgeons in the country for successful outcomes following total hip and total knee replacements.
Whilst no surgical intervention can guarantee the desired outcome every time, he is pleased to share his most recent Patient Related Outcome Measure (PROMs) data published by NJR UK, which showed the vast majority of his patients were very satisfied with their outcome.
He offers private consultations and performs private operations in Spire Washington Hospital. His clinic days are on Monday afternoon, Wednesday afternoon and Friday Evening.
