arthritis
how is arthritis managed?
Treatment for arthritis generally depends on the stage of the disease. In its early stages, painkillers, exercise and weight management are recommended. This stage is generally managed in the community by individuals or your GP. For the intermediate stages, formal physiotherapy, joint injections, walking aids and lifestyle changes may be necessary. Joint replacement surgery is usually recommended for severe arthritis.
In addition to the above, certain individuals with inflammatory joint disease may need help from a rheumatologist.
